ITMAD-UD-DAULAH TOMB
Situated on the banks of the river Yamuna, the Itmad-Ud-Daulah’s tomb is a celebrated example of Mughal Architecture. Express Nur Jahan, the wife of fourth Mughal Monarch Jahangeer’s court, built it. The Tomb look likes a Jewel Box encased in white marble and intricate inlaid stonework.
The Itmad-Ud-Daulah was the first Mughal structure totally constructed of marble and the fort to make extensive use of pietra dura, inlay work of marble. There are also extremely fine marble latticework passages admitting light to the interior.
